Christen set the alarm clock for 5:30, knowing she would have to wake me up (I've been known to sleep through the smoke detector going off).
I made it out here about 45 minutes before sunrise. It was very difficult to see, I was worried about waking any homeless people that might be sleeping under the pier, thankfully there were none (I like working completely alone).
I had to focus this manually, it was still too dark to see clearly, which is why it is a bit on the soft side. Having to rotate the image about 1.75 degrees clockwise didn't help, either. Getting an even horizon was far more difficult than focusing. It was difficult to see the both the lines in the viewfinder and the horizon itself.
The softness really adds to the overall feel of the picture & the pier leads you out whilst the horizon leads you across! Wonderful direction & lovely colour too!

This is one amazing shot! I love the clarity you got so that you can even see the barnacles on the legs of the pier, along with the small waves that look so peaceful!! It's one beautiful picture and well worth getting up early for!
